Scope and Content

This digital collection contains selected reports from the Harrison 'Buzz' Price Papers. These reports are only a small percentage of the Price collection and were selected for their research use by the faculty of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management..

The entire collection of the Harrison Price Papers contains hundreds of research reports, proposals, speeches, and collected research materials on a variety of projects he conducted between 1955 and 2003. Some materials are restricted due to the donor's wishes, but researchers may petition for access with the Special Collections & University Archives staff.

Each item has a restriction level, marked on the guide to the collection, available from Special Collections & University Archives. If there is not a restriction level noted, it is assumed to be unrestricted. Restriction codes are as follows:

  1. Unrestricted
  2. Restricted for 9 years, from Sept. 15 2003 to Sept. 15, 2012
  3. Restricted for 2 years AFTER the death of both the donor AND his wife

Series I: Reports

The 'Reports' series contains feasibility studies, research reports, and other studies created by the Harrison Price Company (HPC) or other collected companies. Report titles contain the original number and/or letter code assigned by Price at the time of the report's creation. The finding aid orders reports by type of project and then alphabetically by client. Where there are multiple reports for one client, the reports have been alphabetized. It is from this series where selected reports have been digitized for the online collection.

Series II: Proposals

Consists of correspondence and documentation on proposals for research, consultation and other services. This series is organized by type of project and the alphabetically.

Series III: Speeches

Includes speeches given by Harrison Price at a variety of events documenting his many projects and activities over time. This series is organized alphabetically by speech title.

Series VI: Worlds Fairs

This series includes materials documenting Price's involvement and research on World's Fairs, specifically the fairs in Knoxville in 1982, Vancouver's Expo '86 and the Louisiana World Exposition in 1984. The bulk of the materials in this series document the 1984 Louisiana World Exposition and the lawsuits that occurred after the exposition went bankrupt.

Series V: Collected Research Materials

This series contains materials used by Price for background research and initial project information.
