The exhibit will be on display through April 14. What's one of the biggest irritants on any campus? Parking—the lack of it and/or the cost of it. But don't scream too loudly. Michigan State University surveyed 20 institutions while deciding whether to double its parking fees, and found that the yearly costs for faculty and staff range from $156 at the University of Minnesota to free parking at Penn State. The average fee was $59. • You always knew education was good for you—but good for your health? The February 1981 issue of Self reports that the American Heart Association has finked high-density lipoproteins—or "good" cholesterol—with, among other things, education. Seems HDL's appear to interfere with atherosclerosis by blocking the production of artery-clogging, low-density lipoporteins, or "bad" cholesterol. The report says long-distance runners, joggers, moderate consumers of alcohol, and the college educated—who eat more sensibly and learn more about protecting their health— have higher levels of HDL's than those who are overweight, smoke, or have little formal education. Have a nice day — no foolin'. President Colbourn expressed his gratitude to faculty and community leaders at Monday night's annual meeting of the UCF Foundation "for their unselfish support" of UCF in its continued quest for quality education. At Foundation dinner Faculty, area leaders honored Eleven UCF faculty members were honored Monday night for their outstanding teaching and research accomplishments during the past year. Nearly 200 community leaders and friends of the University attended the UCF Foundation's annual dinner, which recognized the faculty achievements as well as the contributions of a number of local individuals and corporations. Bruce Pauley, professor of History, was presented the University-wide award for Excellence in Research, and Jack Brennan, associate professor of Physics, received the University's award for Excellence in Teaching. Both faculty members received . checks for $1,000 and plaques from the Foundation in appreciation of their accomplishments. Committees from each college, working through a peer-review procedure, selected an outstanding researcher and an outstanding teacher from their individual colleges (because of its size, the College of Arts & Sciences selected two researchers and two teachers). In turn, the college award winners were reviewed by the Research Council and the Learning Resource Council which selected the University-wide honorees respectively. Each college representative also received a plaque from the Foundation in recognition of their contributions. The Foundation began its program of encouraging and recognizing faculty accomplishments in 1975. Previous winners of the teaching award are J. Gary Wolf, Patricia Manning, Stuart Lilie, James Koevenig, Ronald Rubin, and Chris Clausen. Awards for excellence in research and creative scholarship have gone to Yousef Yousef, Roger Handberg Jr., David Kuhn and Glenn Cunningham, Martin Wanielista, Charles Dzuiban, and Ronald Drabman. See profiles on faculty award winners beginning on page 3. Receiving 1981 College Awards for excellence in teaching were Paul Riley (Arts & Sciences), Robert Hicks (Business Administration), David Ingram (Health), Chris Bauer (Engineering) and Michael Hynes (Education). Barnett Foundation; Mrs. J.K. Galloway; Robert J. Whalen (Martin Marietta Aerospace); Charles N. Millican; Ben Moss (Florida Brace Corp.); Col. and Mrs. E.L. Strohbehn; and Buell G.
