Photographer Tom Netsel recorded the initial flight of Challenger as it streaked above UCF's Engineering Building only seconds after lift-off from Cape Kennedy 46 miles to the east. Saturday Challenger returned to earth in California. Awards dinner tickets go on sale tomorrow Tickets for the 11 th annual career service awards dinner go on sale tomorrow. They may be purchased at $7.50 each from any Staff Council member. This year's dinner in the UCF University Club will begin at 6:30p.m. May 13 with a dutch-treat social hour. Beer and wine will be available. The dinner, with accompanying entertainment, will begin one hour later. Staff Council members who will be happy to sell dinner tickets are Ruth Armstrong (LIB 108), Dorris Cannon (ADM 230), Marty Fioramanti (PHY PLANT), Paul Franzese (SC 21 5), Bill Daum (ADM 395-H), Lois Hilliman (ADM 282), Doug Kucklick (LIB 110), Art Lehmann (ED 194), Linda McCloe (RS 101), Marti Lyons (ADM 145), Walter Mitchell (PHYS PLANT), Jacqui Permaul (Print Shop) and Ginny Stout (LIB 425). Y'all come, hear?! • *»»• The annual "meet-your- candidates" reception prior to this year's Staff Council elections will be held April 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Administration Building third-floor board room. All CS employees are urged to attend. A reminder that ballots in this year's Staff Council elections are due no later than April 27 for tabulation. Marty Fioramanti, elections chairman, added that Career Service employees needing additional ballots can get them by calling her at x2471. Parking decals to return to rear bumpers Decals that dangle or are placed in plastic pockets will not be the form of display on UCF parking lots come next Sept. 1, according to Ronald Seacrist, director of public safety and police. "The university's drivers will be returning to the bumper positioning of decals," he said. And no additional decals at reduced prices. "Individual bumper decals will be sold at full price for each vehicle registered," Seacrist said. There will be no increase in decal cost — "A" decals will continue to be $75, "B" for $26, "C" for $15, "D" and "R" for $13. No charge for "H" decals. "The scheduling for decal sales will be extended to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday during registration and late registration," the chief said. Individuals who need a valid decal replaced need to bring in the old decal, or show proof of the sale of the decalled vehicle. The replacement decal will cost only $2. "The intent of this new system is to implement a feasible decal system that is consistent with an effective campus parking program," Seacrist said.
