Terry Frederick came from Purdue U. as chairman of Mathematical Science in 1975 and when the Department of Computer Science was created in 1977 ROTC units parade for president Combined units of the UCF Army and Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps will perform a pass-in-review ceremony honoring President Trevor Colbourn, Thursday, Nov. 29. Approximately 200 cadets will march in formation after review by the president and their respective military detachment commanders. According to USAF Colonel Charles W. Bradley, this is the first such combined review ever held at UCF. "The support we receive here at UCF is superb. Our people wanted to show Dr. Colbourn how much we appreciate his backing of the Army and Air Force ROTC programs." His feelings were echoed by Lieutenant Colonel Robert W. Weiss, Army ROTC commander. He emphasized the review would continue as an annual event. The review and parade will take place on Soccer Field No. One, beginning at 4 p.m. The public is invited. SANTA CALLING Recreational Services has done it again! The jolly old fellow has come to terms for another year of making phone calls to the children (ages 3- 6) of UCF students, faculty, & staff. Santa will make the calls on Thursday, Dec. 4, and Monday, Dec. 10, between the hours of 5 and 7:30 p.m. If you desire Santa Claus to call your little cherub, stop by Recreational Services, next to the pool, and fill out the appropriate form or mail in the form distributed through campus mail. Best news of all — it's a free service. Santa's still free to kids. DEAN EUBANKS he became its chairman and Mathematics became a separate department. Gary Wolf cam to UCF from the University of South Florida in 1972 and since 1973 has been chairman of the Music Department. He will remain in that post until the end of his contract next August. Jack Rollins, acting dean of Humanities and Fine Arts, said a search committee will be appointed very soon to begin the process of finding Frederick's replacement and meanwhile an acting chairman will be appointed. Rollins said that a six-member committee has already started searching for Wolf's replacement. Frederick, he said, will probably have only one class to teach until he completes organizing the Computer Science Research Institute. CSRI aims at cooperation between industry and the University, with the University playing the role of solving specific computer problems for industry. Wolf remains active as a piano performer, as well as instructor and his research centers on the works of pianist Max Reger. INSIDER'S REPORT ....from Personnel....
