S. Navy and twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Sheffield, this city, are back in the States again, as has been reported by their parents. The twins have served in the armed forces more than two years, and more than one of these years was spent overseas in the Pacific Theatre. It is expected that they will spend the holidays here at home with their parents, other relatives and friends, all of whom will be happy to see them again. k Elks Met in Lodge Of Sorrow Sunday Members of Indian River Lodge No. 692, I. B. P. 0. E. of W., and its affiliated Temple met last Sunday evening in their annual Lodge of Sorrow, at which time they paid special tribute to their dead and held a special memorial program in their honor. On this occasion the Elks made a very fine showing and one of their minister members, the Rev. W. M. Davis, delivered the eulogy. The Bills and Daughters left the Elks Rest, atop the hill on King Street enmasse and assembled at Mt. Moriah in a large body, all appearing in their special memorial uniform. This gesture brought much favorable comment to the members of this Elks family. Only One Week Left To Buy Xmas Seals We wish to remind our many readers that Christmas Seals will be on sale only one week longer, according to the Rev. R. D. Parker, chairman of the drive in this county. He announced early in the month that the drive would end on Friday, Dec. 20, which is only one week away, hence The Script is making its final appeal to the public to buy Christmas Seals and help a most worthy cause. The announcement made in The Script several weeks ago concerning the opening of a medical clinic on Peachtree Street in this city vicinities to the southern and western extent of Brevard County, has to serve residents of this city and been followed up by inquiries as to its authenticity. This proves the urgent need of such an institution in this vicinity. According to former reports of Mrs. Bossity, county nurse, the clinic will be opened on Jan. 1, as previously announced. Any changes of dates or arrangements contrary to former announcements will be published in this paper. Watch for "Tuskeegee In Liberia" Published in the Dec. 21 issue of The Script will be a feature article written and compiled by special request of and exclusively for The Script, under the caption, "Tuskeegee in Liberia." This article was written by the Rev. Walter C. Wynn, who is now serving in Liberia, West Africa. The Rev. Wynn, who grew up in this city and is the son of Mr. C. R. Wynn, who is a resident of this city, is doing a tremendous work in Africa and folk of this city and elsewhere who know him will be thrilled to learn something of this service which he and his wife are doing in foreign fields. Watch for "Tuskeegee in Liberia" in the Dec. 21 issue of this paper. Special Holiday On Subscriptions A special reduction of yearly subscription rates on The Script have been arranged to last throughout the holidays. This reduction of 50 cents brings the rate to $3.50 per year, mailed anywhere in the continental United States. This rate lasts only three weeks, beginning today, Dec. 14, and ending Saturday, Jan. 4. NewHandLaundry Is Now Open Here The Script is pleased to announce this week the opening of a new hand laundry in this city several days ago, owned and operated by Mrs. Ruby L. Partridge and located on Poinsett Drive, about one-half block west of the F. E. C. railroad tracks. It is known as Ruby Lee's Hand Laundry. Mrs. Partridge has two assistants, and all the workers are experienced laundresses. She is giving a two-day service on special bundles, which will solve the problems of many residents who find it inconvenient to wait several days for the return of their laundry. Hotel employees will also find this a convenient laundry for their rush work. Mrs. Partridge is soliciting the public's partonage. Christmas Issue Slated For Dec. 21st The first annual Christmas edition of The Script will be released on Saturday, Dec. 21, and will carry news of interest from Cocoa and neighboring vicinities. Advertisers who desire space in this special edition will be contacted next week by Script representatives, or advertisers may drop a card to 430 King Street and ask a representative to call. Another special feature of the Christmas issue will be photos of local business and professional people. See any Script representative for particulars on photos. All news items for this issue must be in by Tuesday noon and the deadline for ads is Wednesday noon. Club news should come in immediately after meetings. Watch for The Script's first annual Christmas edition. Local Ration Board Closed For the benefit of those who intend to have sugar ration books renewed, or wish to apply for new ones, the following address is submitted here. Address all mail to Office of Price Administration, 64 Marietta Street, N. W., Atlanta, Ga. The local office closed on Thursday, Dec. 12. Sponsoring Girls Much interest is being centered around the much-heralded "Miss Bronze Melbourne" Contest now underway in Melbourne, Fla., sponsored by the Damon V. Coleman Post No. 191 of the American Legion, Department of Florida. This affair which will end on Christmas Eve iyill designate the "Queen of Colored Town" and her majesty will be crowned at the Christmas Eve dance on Tuesday night, Dec. 24. Among the many business concerns that are sponsoring beauties are: John's Fountainette, Glennie Spain's Bar, Stone's Sawdust Trail, Gibbs' Grocery, Alex's Bar and Package Store, Mamie's Beauty Shoppe, Bowman's Grocery, Sol's Beer Parlor, Knight's Beer Garden and many others whose names were not available at press time. Many of the downtown businesses are co-operating with the veterans by donating prizes to the winner and runners-up. The Melbourne Legionnaires are inviting the public to join them on Christmas Eve in this gala event, with special invitation to \ Legion Posts and Auxiliaries of this and neighboring cities. Legion Auxiliary Gets Membership Cards In the December meeting of the George P. Hinton Unit No. 177 of the American Legion Auxiliary, held last Sunday afternoon, the secretary acknowledged the receipt of new membership cards for charter members of the unit. The president, Mrs. Lucile Dickerson, ordered that these cards be filled by Secretary Jones and be ready for issuance in the first meeting of the new year, which will be Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, 1947. These cards are the first to b'e issued to this unit since the organization was consolidated into the Legion Auxiliary, Department of Florida. Legion Auxiliary manuals and handbooks were also distributed to members. The president is urging all delinquent members to come out and meet requirements in order to clear the unit of affairs of the former organization, known as the Veterans' Auxiliary.
